Joan Ashworths mixed media Filmportrait über die Künstlerin und Suffragette Syvia Pankhurst.
(english OV, keine Untertitel)
The life of Sylvia Pankhurst (1882–1960) was full of hard petitioning leaving her little time to develop into the artist she could have become. A middle sister of a revolutionary family, Sylvia initially used her artist’s skills to stand out, winning scholarships to study first at Manchester Art School and then the Royal College of Art. But, fighting for votes for women, persuasive lecture tours in America, and supporting Ethiopia against fascism, diverted Sylvia into the tough world of politics, prison and resistance.
Joan Ashworth is a director and designer of animated films. She has worked in industry and academe for 28 years, directing commercials, title sequences and short films and conducting research. Until July 2015 she was Head of the Animation Department at London's Royal College of Art.
